Requirements

• Experience in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programming and machining, with related training and/or education.
• Skill with the programming, CAD/CAM, and measuring tools
• Experience machining aluminum, steel, plastic, and/or tool steels
• Read blueprints and use of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Troubleshoot and change fixtures
• Turn a concept or drawing into a finished fixture
• Shop management or supervision experience

Responsibilities

• Complex programming in CNC languages for milling, turning, and multi-axis machining using CAD/CAM software
• Read blueprints and engineering drawings
• Set up and run CNC lathes, mills, and 5-axis machines
• Choose tooling, fixtures, and measuring tools
• Design and build fixtures, and fix or change them as needed
• Work with engineers to make designs easier to build
• Measure parts during machining to check quality
• Keep records of programs, tool setups, machine calibrations, and quality checks
